About San Sebastian

San Sebastián has 1 free audio guide in English on this site so far, and it starts where most visits to the city do: on the seafront. It plays on your phone straight from its page, with no app and no sign-up, and runs for about 3½ minutes.

La Concha Beach is a 1,350 m curve of fine sand between the City Hall and the Pico del Loro, with Santa Clara Island in the bay and Mount Urgull and Mount Igeldo on either side. It is public and free, open day and night, and its water is calm and shallow. Queen Isabella II made it fashionable in 1845; the white railing along the promenade was designed by Juan Rafael Alday in 1916, and La Perla, the 1912 bathhouse on the sand, still runs on seawater. At low tide you can keep walking along the shore to Ondarreta beach, round the Pico del Loro.
