The Coracha in the list above is not a figure of speech. Málaga city council describes it as a walled road of two parallel walls with a walkway on top, laid out in a zig-zag so that no expensive towers were needed, built under Yusuf I around 1340, and it was the only way in and out of Gibralfaro Castle — castle above, fortress below, one wall joining them. Only one other like it survives in Spain, in Badajoz. It is not part of the visit today: the way up to the castle now goes round the outside, by the Paseo de Don Juan Temboury, about 20 minutes of climbing for some 110 metres of height (the castle sits at 132 m above sea level). A single ticket for both costs 10,00 € against 7,00 € for one, and everyone gets in free on Sundays from 14:00. The castle has its own free audio guide here.
